January/February 2018 Media Wrap Up

January/February 2018 Media Wrap Up

An arbitrary goal of mine for 2018 has been to watch 100 films and read 24 books in the year. Every so often I set these arbitrary numbers for no reason other than to challenge myself. I love a good competition, even if I'm the only who competing or even the only one who cares. So with that in mind I came into this year determined to meet my goals and so far, I think I'm on the right track. To finish the year off I need to watch roughly 2 movies a week and read 2 books a month. Now that it's March, I figured it was time I check in and see if I'm actually doing as well on my goal as I think I am.

(This is not a review of every book I've finished or film I've watched this year. If you want a brief comment on what I thought check out my twitter thread or my YouTube Reviews. If you want a more in depth post or video leave me a comment and I'll be sure to go into it.)

I added in TV just because I think that it's interesting to realize how much TV I actually watch, despite the fact that I only ever binge entire seasons at a time. So how did I actually do?

In the first 2 months of 2018 I watched 23 films, to stay on track I needed to finish 18. The first 18 films on this list I completed in January meaning I was an entire month ahead of schedule. So far this March I've added another 2 films to that list meaning I only need to watch one more film to stay on track for the year.

Though reading, is an entirely different story.  While technically I finished Frankenstein this year, I started reading it back in October. I don't really feel like I read it in 2017 so I'm not going to count it toward my final count. Though, I'm not too worried about falling behind. I should have 4 books completed by now, so far I have 2 - one of which is an audio book. Though currently I'm in the middle of reading 5 physical books and one audio book. Hopefully by the end of March I've made more progress.
